We have received news of a scam, running for months, that is now in the hospitality industry and affecting some golf clubs.
It involves a person booking a function for his 80th whilst claiming to be hospitalised. After weeks of organising with dates, menus and seating arrangements, when asked to pay a deposit for room hire, the client then asked the club to pay $3,000 for entertainment on his behalf.
It’s been reported that the scammer has hit clubs in NSW and Victoria. If your club has been contacted by this attempted scammer or been scammed, we’re interested to hear about it.
