A fantastic step in the continued development of junior golf was set in concrete yesterday with the installation of an official sign signifying the agreement between Hunter Academy of Sport, Jack Newton Junior Golf and Cypress Lakes Resort in Pokolbin.

Announced a few weeks ago the Cypress Lakes Resort will form the foundation of development for the Hunter Academy by providing a consistent venue to train and develop those chosen in the annual golf program.

Jack Newton Junior Golf supports and delivers a learning platform for promising junior golfers within the region and the first step in the player development pathway.

“Hunter Academy of Sport has a vision of growth and unparalleled support for junior sports people in the Hunter and providing a quality training facility for the golf program will compliment their strategic plans,” said Mark Ingrey.

Cypress Lakes Operations Manager James Harris was on hand along with JNJG Territory Manager Mark Ingrey to welcome the new sign and discuss long-term plans.

“This is a great step in providing for the junior golfers of the region, our facility with the guidance of Oaks Hotels and Resorts has a vision to grow and be the premier resort in the hunter, developing partnerships like this with a passionate group of professionals will compliment our plans,” James said.

“Being able to link these quality businesses together for the growth of junior golf in the region is a great boast for us.  We have the Srixon International in October and Cypress Lakes are extremely supportive of our long-term vision.  With our valuable sponsor Titleist/Footjoy providing our squad with apparel and the ongoing Academy scholarship this will be the sign of great things for junior golf and the Hunter Academy of Sport,” said Mark Ingrey.
