Future&aposs Tour rookie Jenny Shin claimed her maiden title overnight with a one-shot victory at The Invitational at Concord in New Hampshire. Much like her namesake at the Evian Masters, Shin birdied the last hole to clinch victory. Last-start winner Tiffany Joh fired a final round 7-under par 65 to finish in outright second with Mexico’s Sophia Sheridan a further shot back in third.

rnShin began the final round at 8-under par, holding a 1-shot lead over a group of four players. Her day got off to a shaky start with a double-bogey at the 4th hole, however she bounced straight back with two birdies on the next two holes and completed the front nine in even par. None of her competitors made any inroads on the front nine but after parring holes 10 to 12 she found herself 2 shots off the pace with Joh having completed her round sitting on 10-under par. Birdies at both the 13th and 14th holes saw her draw even with Joh. A bogey at the 15th was followed by a birdie at the 16th to remain level. She parred the 17th before a clutch birdie putt on the last saw her take the title.

With three Top-5’s in her last three starts, it was Shin’s turn for a win, saying afterwards, “I sank some miracle putts on 14 and 16 and that really helped me get going.” The winner’s cheque of US$15,400 lifts her to 7th on the Money List with four tournaments left on the schedule. The Top-5 receives full playing rights on the LPGA for 2011 while positions 6-10 receive conditional playing cards. Joh moved up from 10th to the all-important Top-5 with her runner-up finish while Christine Song continues to lead the “Race for the Card.”

Leanne Bowditch (T52) and Stephanie Na (T63) were the only ALPG Members to make the cut.
