(6 September 2010 – Albany, New York)
rn
Former University of Louisville star Cindy LaCrosse capped a sensational year by winning the season-ending Price Chopper Tour Championship at the Capital Hills course in Albany, New York. Both LaCrosse and Jennifer Song fired final rounds of 2-under par 69 and birdied the par-3 18th hole to move ahead of the pack to force a playoff. In the end, it was LaCrosse, who had already posted two victories during the season, who prevailed and convincingly wrapped up the Money List booking her place on the LPGA in 2011.
rn
rnWhile there was a golf tournament to be won, there were more pressing matters of concern for a small number of the field battling for one of ten cards for the LPGA Tour next year. The top five players on the Money List at the end of the year earn full playing rights while positions 6-10 earn conditional cards for the premier women’s professional golf tour.
rnIn the end, the final tournament on the players earning full cards for 2011 with the top-5 heading into the tournament remaining in the top-5 with a few slight changes in final positions. The winner, LaCrosse was assured of her No.1 spot after two previous wins during the season, as well as a further 6 Top-5 finishes. Her worst finish was a tie for 26th, one of only four times she finished outside the Top-10 in 14 starts, amassing $95,473 in season earnings with a stroke average of 69.53.
rn
LaCrosse was followed by Song, whom she beat in a playoff to win the final event. With her runner-up finish at the Price Chopper Tour Championship, Song moved from 4th up to 2nd, just $339 ahead of third placed Christine Song. Fourth place was taken out by Jenny Shin while Gerina Mendoza collected the last of the full playing cards.
rnOf the next five places, only Hannah Jun came from outside the Top-10 before the final event to usurp another player. Her tie for 3rd place saw her move up to 9th on the Money List causing Jane Rah to finish in the unlucky 11th place, just $1,060 behind 10th. The table for the Top-10 is below.
