Gail de Groot is a firm believer in sharing your good luck around when it comes knocking.
The Coffs Harbour member is the proud owner of a brand new Mazda 3 after entering the Golf NSW 2015 Women’s Fourball Championship at her home club.
“It’s a delight to drive. I had a 2007 Alpha and it was time to upgrade so this was a gift from heaven,” Mrs de Groot said. “I had completely forgotten that my entry fee came with a possibility of winning a new car.”
Mrs de Groot is a firm believer of being in it to win it and sharing her good luck around.
“I played my good luck forward so I donated a pro shop voucher for a raffle to help our club’s juniors.”
The raffle raised $2,500 and Mrs de Groot said the club intends to use the funds to hopefully run a junior tournament and assist some of the club’s juniors to attend Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation events in the future.
“It was a great feeling to donate that voucher and a great upside for the juniors at our club.”
“Coffs Harbour is a wonderful club. The support they have shown to my daughter (LPGA player Emma de Groot) has been wonderful.”
“This was a great opportunity for me to give something back.”
As for the 2016 Fourball Championship, Mrs de Groot is keen to enter it once more.
“It’s coming up soon. I’ll be entering again for sure. Hopefully we’ll go a little better golf-wise this time," she laughed.
