German superstar Sandra Gal has drawn on some Australian influence as she prepares for her shot at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open at Royal Adelaide.
Gal, the LPGA Tour star who was runner-up to Melissa Reid in the Oates VicOpen last Sunday, called upon Aussie Brett Rumford for some tips while she was at 13th Beach.
Specifically it was Rumford's world-renowned bunker play that the German wanted to tap into.
Rumford spoke to her about maintaining clubhead speed through the sand.
"I loved what he had to share. He was brilliant,'' said Gal, who did acknowledge that it would take more time for the tips to have an impact.
Gal is making a reappearance in the Open after missing The Grange last year. A one-time winner on the LPGA Tour, she will be one of the favorites this week.
