Australia&aposs Scott Gardiner secured his PGA Tour card for next year after finishing tied for second behind American Chesson Hadley at the Web.com Tour Championships in Florida. The top 25 players on the money list for the Web.com Tour regular season are assured a PGA Tour card and the 37-year-old from Coolangatta closed the four-tournament season ranked 11th. But Gardiner was denied victory in the development tour&aposs season finale at Ponte Vedra Beach as Hadley closed with a one-under 69 in the fourth round for a two-shot victory. Gardiner, who closed with a 72, shared second place with Canadian Brad Fritsch (66) and Americans Brendon Todd (65) and John Peterson 67. Nick O&aposHern and Rod Pampling were the next best Australians with a share of 24th. Nick Flanagan, Nathan Green and Aron Price were equal 32nd. But perhaps the biggest winner was American Lee Williams. Needing a birdie on the 18th hole, he rolled in a 55-foot putt over a ridge and into the cup to dramatically snare a 2014 tour card.
