Jordie Garner is in a strong position after three rounds of the IMG Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Club near San Diego, California.
The 18 year-old is sitting at two under par and alone in fifth position in the boys 15-18 yr division after scores of 69, 72, and 73.
The Castle Hill member is relishing the opportunity to play on the famed South Course and is playing well. His second round included a spectacular eagle on the par-five 13th after rifling a seven-iron from 180 metres to under a foot.
"My game is feeling really good," Garner said. "I'm hitting it really solid, probably the best I have in a long time."
"You have to play well here, the course is super tricky around the greens and leaving it in the right position is vital."
Garner is fired up and ready for tomorrows final round.
"I'm feeling comfortable heading into tomorrow's round. I'm an underdog in the tournament and no one knows who I am, so I will be able to go out there tomorrow and do exactly what I did in round one. That's what I need to do," he smiled.
In the Girls 15-18 years division, State team mates Hannah Park and Amy Chu have found the going a little harder, Park is currently in a tie for 37th after rounds of 73, 73, and 78, while Chu failed to make the three round cut following scores of 77, 72, and 78.
The final round will be played overnight.
