Gary Sargent Wins 2011 NSW Blind Golf Open

Gary Sargent (NSW) proved he is a consistent performer with back-to-back victories in the New South Wales Blind Golf Open Championship over 36 holes at Barnwell Park on 15 & 16 September. Gary (B2), who was runner-up in 2009 and the winner in 2010, had a net 97 with his wife Eileen as caddie to win by four strokes. Nineteen players entered the tournament with participants coming from NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and WA. Blind golf has categories B1, B2 and B3 depending on the player s vision capabilities. B1 players are totally blind. John Capes (Vic) won the B1 net with 114; John White (WA) won the B2 net with 105; and David Wheatley (Vic) won the B3 net with 112. Gross winner was New South Welshman, Stephen Mitchell (B3) with 155 for the 36 holes. The Ladies Champion was Kay Hancock (Vic) with a net 107.
