GENERAL MANAGER – Cairns Golf Club

The Cairns Golf Club (established in 1923) has recently completed a $2.5million redevelopment of club facilities that includes the clubhouse, pro shop, cart sheds, service sheds and car park. These facilities together with the excellent golf course and driving range, position the club to become one of the premier golf clubs in tropical North Queensland. The club currently has around 800 members and is open to the golfing public. Members and visitors enjoy lounge, bar, catering, keno and poker machine facilities. The progressive Board seeks to appoint an experienced and energetic General Manager who is capable of engaging with all stakeholders to take the club to this desired next level. Is this you? It is expected that the successful applicant will have demonstrated success in managing and growing a licensed club with the proven ability to: Read, interpret and analyse club financials including profit and loss statements, and balance sheets, Control expenditure, develop a budget and operate to budget and develop longer-term financial plans most notably around equipment and facilities upkeep, Develop and maintain systems and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant government legislation, Manage staffing to achieve optimum service delivery and harmonious relationships by providing training and adequate supervision, Manage stringently all service provider contracts, Market and promote the club to improve financial performance, Diversify the use of club facilities and engage with the wider community to generate new income streams that return a profit, Guide and assist the Board of Directors, and club members, to develop short and longer term objectives and goals, Keep abreast of, and fully utilise, communication and data management technology. In addition to above, it is expected that the successful applicant will have the ability to manage and provide direction across all aspects of the club operations, golf course, and facilities. An annual salary package circa $95k will be negotiated subject to qualifications and experience.
