Step 1: Introduction to Golf

All national and state based participation programs are your ideal introduction to golf. Golf Australia and State Golf Association participation programs are universally designed to include members of the community with a disability.

  • •   MyGolf – Australia's national junior program
  • *   MyGolf All Abilities – A program run by PGA All Abilities Coaches for kids with an intellectual Disability

PGA All Abilities Coach

Golf Australia in partnership with the PGA of Australia have developed an accreditation in blind and disabled golf coaching. The PGA All Abilities Coach has additional training in coaching golfers with disability and venues that support the ongoing participation of participants.  The extensive training program covers;
 

  • •   Inclusive coaching and program development
  • •   Access and universal design principles
  • •   Clubfitting and mobility solutions for golfers with disability

Step 2: Playing Opportunities – Club and Social Play

A variety of choice exists for how we participate in the game of golf. To find a club or facility that suits your participation needs visit the Club and Facilities page and search for a venue in your area.

Clubs and facilities are given resources on how to make their venues more inclusive, especially for golfers with disability. Engage with your preferred venue to discuss any access or participation requirements you may have.

Golfers with disability are also supported by several disability golf associations that provide playing opportunities to its members at a variety of different venues across Australia.

 


Step 3: Competition Pathways

Golfers with disability have the same opportunities to compete at club, state, national and international level. Tournament pathways exists through membership of state disability golf associations and through multi class events held by Golf Australia.

Golf Australia contributes to the World Rankings for Golfers with a Disability (WR4GD) The WR4GD is run by the R&A through World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
