Giles slips in wet Colombia

Golf Australia rookie professional Matt Giles finished in 40th place as rain forced the cancellation of the final two rounds of the Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open in Colombia. Giles was at 3-under par after his 14th hole when play was called. The New South Welshman fired a 5-under par 66 in the opening round and was in a tie for second with five other players including fellow Australian Ewan Porter. With the first round unable to be completed until Saturday due to persistent rain, Giles carded a 4-over par 75 in the second to slip to 40th place on the leaderboard in a tie with nine players 1-under for the championship. South African Brendan Pappas won at 9-under par from American Matt Every in second place at 8-under par.
