NSW and Victoria are equal leaders after day one of the Australian Girls’ Interstate Teams Matches played at Port Kembla Golf Club in NSW’s Illawarra region.
In the morning’s first round, Victoria was dominate over the Composite team of Tasmania, ACT and NT, winning all five of its matches, albeit three of the matches finishing on the 17th or 18th holes. NSW and WA defeated Qld and SA respectively 4 matches to 1. Australian Girls’ Amateur Champion Grace Kim and runner up Hannah Park were taken all the way to the 18th hole in each of their matches with both ending in a halved result.
With a storm threatening for much of the round 2 afternoon matches, NSW were convincing winners over the Composite team with a 5-0 result. Victoria defeated WA 4 matches to 1, with WA’s Maddison Hinson-Tolchard prevailing in a great match against Australia Team Member Alizza Hetherington 2&1. Qld won four of its matches over SA in the afternoon to sit in equal third position overall with WA.
South Australia sits in 5th position after day one, followed by the Composite team.
Rounds 3 and 4 will be played tomorrow, with the final round played on Tuesday morning.
