Gleeson misses out

Australian David Gleeson has fired a two-under-par 69 to finish in equal fourth and cap off a consistent performance at the Singapore Open on Sunday. Gleeson finished two shots behind winner Indian Jeev Milkha Singh who held off the combined challenges of Major champions Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els to triumph in the US$5 million event. Mitchell Brown shot a one-over 72 in his final round to end the tournament in equal tenth spot while compatriot Scott Strange was a further shot back after a final-round 73. Harrington, who won the British Open and PGA Championship titles this year, fought hard but had to settle for second place after missing a five-foot birdie chance on 18 to force a play-off. Els also missed a 15-foot birdie chance at the last for a 71 as he completed his second runner-up finish at the Singapore Open.
