Glenelg – Women’s A1 Pennant Champions

A1 Women&aposs Pennant Champions – Glenelg Glenelg Women&aposs A1 Pennant Champions Glenelg has claimed its 19th Women’s A1 Pennant title edging out Royal Adelaide 3 – 2 in a classic Women’s top grade Pennant Final. Royal Adelaide s number three, Fiona Morrison, had a day out, comfortably defeating Sophie James 6&5 to give Royal Adelaide the early lead, before Elysia Yap hit back for Glenelg winning 3&2 finishing on the 2nd hole against Juliet Hugo who came into the side to replace the unavailable Rebecca Sykes. The final three matches all went the distance finishing on the 18 hole. Christine Beasley nudged Glenelg ahead by one, with her 1up victory over Megan Bleeze, before Royal Adelaide s Jovanna Bozanic sunk an amazing 25 foot putt to win her match 1up over Amy Zhou leveling the match two apiece. With a strong crowd present, Glenelg s top order player Jenny Lee, led Caitlin Roberts by 1 heading to the last and required only a squared hole for victory. After a perfectly executed drive, Lee received resounding applause from her supporters after finding the green in regulation. Conversely, Roberts longer drive found a difficult lie, resulting in her second finding the near greenside bunker. Although on the green, Lee had the honour and calmly rolled her putt within inches from 30 foot to virtually seal the win. Royal Adelaide s only hope was Roberts holing her bunker shot which proved too difficult a task, resulting in victory to Glenelg 3 matches to 2. Click here for the Women’s A1 events page
