Twenty young women aged 18-35 flocked to Yarra Bend Driving Range on Saturday. Some were beginning their golf careers while others at a more advanced level aimed to meet other young female golfers.
‘’We, Golf Victoria have had a significant number of young women register their interest to start golf and/or wanting to meet other women their age to enjoy the sport with’’ explained Serrin Cooper, Adult Development Coordinator at Golf Victoria.
The aim of the morning was to give young women the opportunity to start their golfing endeavours in a social and relaxed group environment. The 2 hours of clinics covered full-swing, putting and chipping before a casual lunch was enjoyed together with the aim to foster friendships.
All participants reported they enjoyed the morning and wish to continue learning and playing golf. Many girls additionally stated they had friends who also wish to start.
Golf Victoria aims to conduct more sessions like these around Melbourne and asks young women to register their interest with serrin.cooper@golfvic.org.au or call 85456213.
