Golf Australia’s National Amateur Championships will now be smoke-free for competitors during their stipulated round.
The game of golf supports a healthy lifestyle, and with National Championships showcasing and promoting the game, it was considered important to ensure policies at the highest level of the game for amateur golfers enforced this healthy lifestyle message.
Golf Australia’s Manager of Championships, Therese Ritter said, “More and more outdoor environments in Australia are becoming smoke-free for the health benefit of non-smokers.
“The Golf Australia Championships Committee believed this right should also be extended to competitors at National Championships during their round, and therefore introduced the policy across all Golf Australia National Championships.”
The policy becomes effective immediately.
