Golf Australia announced today that Stephen Pitt has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Mr Pitt brings a wealth of experience in sports administration to Golf Australia, having worked in various bodies at state and national level. Golf Australian Chairman and interim CEO Anne Lenagan said she was pleased to welcome Stephen on board. We are delighted that Stephen has agreed to join us, Ms Lenagan said. After an extensive search, we believe his experience in sports administration and marketing makes him the ideal person to lead us into the future. The current CEO of Golf Queensland, Mr Pitt was the CEO of Queensland Athletics from 2001 to 2006. As CEO of Golf Queensland, Mr Pitt played a key role in the successful merging of the Queensland Golf Union and Women’s Golf Queensland in 2007. A member of Brisbane Golf Club and with a handicap of 10, Mr Pitt has also worked in high-level project management and marketing including the launch of Virgin Blue Airlines in Australia. He has also worked as a marketing executive with the Queensland Olympic Council and Surf Lifesaving Queensland. Mr Pitt will formally begin his position in early November.
