Golf bodies show support for conference

Golf Australia and Golf Management Australia (GMA) are throwing their support behind the upcoming 32nd Australian Turfgrass Conference and Trade Exhibition. With the conference less than three weeks away (20-24 June), both organisations are encouraging industry-wide participation at the golf course and turf management profession’s largest annual gathering.

Stephen Pitt, chief executive of Golf Australia which is a principal partner of the conference, says the conference provided an excellent learning opportunity for all those involved in golf course management, both on and off the course.

“I’d encourage all clubs to be represented at the upcoming Australian Golf Course Superintendents’ Association (AGCSA) conference in Melbourne,” says Pitt. “As always the AGCSA conference will have quality presenters and some excellent learning opportunities that will allow participants to strengthen their skills.  It is an opportunity for club committees to gain a broader understanding of this important facet of their golf clubs.”

GMA president and Huntingdale Golf Club general manager Stewart Fenton echoed Pitt’s comments and encouraged his association’s members to enable their superintendent and course staff members to participate in the Melbourne event.

“The role of a course superintendent is critical to the successful operation of any golf club,” says Fenton. “The Australian Turfgrass Conference is the pinnacle education event for superintendents and course maintenance staff and provides a wonderful opportunity for them to hear about the latest in golf course management practices from industry luminaries, as well as share ideas with fellow colleagues. Golf Management Australia strongly endorses this year’s Australian Turfgrass Conference and encourages all clubs to facilitate their superintendents and course staff attending.”

Registrations have been coming in thick and fast in recent weeks and the AGCSA is expecting an excellent turnout in Melbourne. If you have yet to register, read on below to find out how. See you in Melbourne!
