Golf Month launches across Tasmania

Do you dream of playing Tasmania’s world famous golf courses — Barnbougle Dunes, Barnbougle Lost Farm, Cape Wickham or Ocean Dunes?

Then start talking up the game to family and friends, says Golf Tasmania.

It is golf month and the state’s golf body has designed a campaign to inspire golfers to share the bug in a bid to drive participation.

Last year, the Mercury reported some clubs were selling land and talking amalgamation to try to remain viable.

“This campaign represents a fantastic opportunity for clubs throughout the state to promote their offerings, engage local communities and welcome new people to golf,” Golf Tasmania development manager Simon Weston said.

Shaun Smith, a member at Kingston Beach Golf Club, is sharing his love of the game with 10-year-old daughter Annabelle.

“We both love playing golf. We used to live in Queensland and I introduced Annabelle to golf, it’s been a slow progression to getting her out on to the course hitting the ball. We even have a golf hole at home for practice,” Mr Smith said.
