The rousing success of GOLF MONTH has prompted its 2016 return.
Golf Australia golf development director Cameron Wade said the inaugural initiative throughout October had been so successful, plans were already being made for a second campaign.
“We were delighted with the number of people who either had their first go at golf, or came back to the sport after some time away,” Wade said.
“But just as importantly, the number of clubs and facilities who got on board really makes us think that we can make it even bigger and better again in 2016.
“The challenge, obviously, is for us to convert all this new interest into club and facility memberships.
“But with all the offers and promotions that were put on the table, we’re hopeful that the clubs and facilities will continue to have amembership influx as a result of the campaign.”
More than 310 facilities registered for GOLF MONTH in 2015, with in excess of 900 activities and offers promoted, including approximately 100 membership offers.
Facilities involved included indoor simulators, driving ranges and 9/18 hole facilities and community events, with more than 20 different activities including clinics, open days, twilight and even night golf.

Female participation co-ordinator Serrin Cooper said it was “fantastic that we now have a national program to get women into golf”.
“There are a lot of women who have wanted to play golf and Swing Fit has given them the chance to really get involved in a manner that suits their lifestyle – and stay fit at the same time,” Cooper said. “There are already over 50 facilities across Australia registered as a Swing Fit Centre and the number of participants is continuing to grow.”
