Golf NSW Launches Club Support Service

A new Golf NSW Club Support Service was launched today to support affiliated golf clubs in their operations.  Golf NSW has secured the services of experienced Club Managers Graham Christian (past General Manager of The Lakes Golf Club) and Rod Davies (past General Manager Cromer Golf Club) as Club Support Officers to deliver a Club operations advisory service.

“It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Golf NSW Club Support Service and our Club Support Officers to our member clubs,” said CEO Stuart Fraser.

In 2013 Golf NSW conducted a full Governance and Structural Review to investigate how it can better adopt an appropriate governance structure that will ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness for its members and golfers.

An outcome of the review is the Golf NSW Strategic Plan 2014-17 in which a key focus is “Enhanced Club Health.”

“It is our goal to provide more benefits to our members, with the aim to grow the game for all. However, some clubs face real and immediate challenges.  This vital service will help Clubs optimise their day-to-day operations, which will hopefully result in more people playing more golf.”

At the request of a member Club, Golf NSW will provide this complimentary service to clubs as an affiliation benefit.  A Club Support Officer will determine the most effective way to assist the Club.  This in most cases will include an onsite visitation/consultation, resulting in an operational review and report being presented to the Club for consideration.

The Club Support Service Team comprises Graham Christian and Rod Davies.  Graham has over thirty years’ experience in Golf Club Management, and his most recent role was as General Manager of The Lakes Golf Club (Sydney), a position he held for over 29 years.

Graham has also been actively involved with the Golf Management Australia (GMA), and is a Life Member of the GMA NSW.

Rod Davies has extensive experience in senior management both domestically and internationally in roles covering sport, tourism, and hospitality.

Rod most recently held the position of General Manager of Cromer Golf Club (Sydney) for a period of eight years, prior to which he was General Manager at Roseville Golf Club (Sydney).

Golf NSW is thrilled to secure the services of Graham Christian and Rod Davies.  Golf Clubs across NSW will benefit greatly from their industry knowledge and experience.
