Golf NSW welcomes new Chairman

Mr Andrew Tharle has been elected Chairman of Golf NSW, replacing Mr John Robinson.

Mr Tharle has served as a Director of Golf NSW since 2013, chairing the Golf NSW Finance Committee for the past two years. He has been instrumental in strengthening the financial governance of the organisation during this time, allowing it to reinvest in the game across the State and for the body to meet its strategic objectives.

Mr Tharle has been involved in the sport as a player, administrator, and junior mentor for over 25 years, and has served as a Director and Vice-Captain of Royal Canberra Golf Club.

"I am looking forward to working with the committed staff of Golf NSW to fulfil the objectives of the organisation's business plan, and to continue to grow the game of golf across our State," Mr Tharle said.

One of the goals of the incoming board of Golf NSW will be the appointment of a new advisory committee to help promote, market and develop the sport in the State as well as provide advice on future priorities for the organisation.

"A key initiative of the incoming board will be the appointment of the new advisory committee, whose role will be to provide feedback to the board on the direction of, and general development of the game across the State," he said.

Mr Tharle has spent over 20 years in public service in a range of management and executive positions with a focus on financial management. He has been a member of the Australian Society of CPA’s for 20 years and is a graduate member of the Institute of Company Directors.

The 2015-2016 Golf NSW Directors are Michele Adair, Gemma Dooley, Meralyn Fage, Grant Harding, Peter Mitchell, John Robinson, Andrew Tharle, Les Wallace, and Darrell Watts.
