Winners in round four of the Simpson Cup were; The Grange, Glenelg and Thaxted Park, while The Vines and Royal Adelaide played out a halve in matches played at Glenelg Golf Club.
Glenelg’s win sees them alone at the top of the table, a full contest ahead of The Grange and Thaxted Park, while only one and a half individual matches separate the bottom four teams.
In its match with The Vines, Royal Adelaide moved 3-1 ahead after wins to Matt Lawson 3&2, Sam McLean 1up and Patric Kroschel 5&3, but The Vines fought back through Matt Bell 3&2, Michael Bruggeman 1up, and Alex Curtin 2&1.
When nothing could separate Bill Cawthorne and Tony Nobbs both teams secured their second halve of the season.
In a rematch of last season’s grand final, which Glenelg won 5-2, the home side proved too strong for Kooyonga winning 4.5-2.5.
Winners for Glenelg were; Harrison Burner 2&1, Jack Tanner 5&3, Ben Layton 3&1 and Jack Buchanan 6&4, while Josh Hayes and Heath Riches halved. Winners for Kooyonga were Kyle Hayter 3&1 and Joe Hodgson 5&4.
Tea Tree Gully put up a fight against The Grange but fell short 5-2. Alex Hendrick 4&2, Nick Thompson 7&5, Riley Marshall 5&4 and Liam Georgiadis 3&2 all claimed victories for The Grange, while Brad Stenner against Jarrod Rowe and Mark Demasi versus Jimmy Lou, squared their matches.
Matt McMahon continued his giant killing run claiming his fourth win in a row at number one by defeating Colin Coleman 3&1.
Thaxted Park is maintaining its winning form dispatching Southern 4-3. Rob Liddell undefeated this season won 5&3, James Coulsen 6&5, Kieren Barratt 4&3 and Jarrod Roxby 4&3.
In round five, Kooyonga play Royal Adelaide, Southern come up against Tea Tree Gully, while top placed Glenelg take on bottom side The Vines. Thaxted Park will front up against The Grange with the winner moving to outright second.
