Golf SA and the Japan Golf Association are pleased to announce that a match between South Australia and Japan will be held next Friday 16 March at Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
14 players from Team Japan will be in South Australia (under the guidance of South Australian Gareth Jones, who is the Japan National Coach), to compete in the combined 72 hole Men’s Amateur Classic & Women’s Rene Erichsen Salver, which commences on Mon 19 March at Royal Adelaide.
The mixed team challenge, held prior to the national ranking events, provides an excellent opportunity for South Australian local players to test their form against visiting international players and allows Golf SA to continue to build on the relationship with the Japan Golf Association.
The format kicking off from 1.15pm will be a mixed 4BBB, with the best five team scores out of seven to count.
Five of the Japanese women representatives have handicaps of +5.5 or better, with the top marker Yuka Yasuda off +6.8. South Australia’s top marker is Charley Jacobs +1.3.
All players in the Japanese men’s side have handicaps of +3 or better with Takumi Kanaya the top marker off +4.7. All the SA men’s representatives are scratch golfers or better, with the top marker Jack Thompson playing off +2.7.
