Despite unfavorable weather conditions for the Community Golf Open Day at Yarra Bend on Sunday October 13, spirits were not dampened by those who attended. All activities were still in full swing for a fantastic fun day. The driving range was constantly busy with coaches assisting all our young and not so young participants and the scheduled short game clinics for chipping, pitching, putting and bunkers proved very popular.
The Kid’s Zone was a favourite, with oversized ‘SNAG Golf’ equipment set up for our young beginner golfers, jumping castle for both children and adults, and of course face painting. The face painting was a huge hit with our award winning artist Laurie Faulkner painting some sensational faces. Check out some of her work from the day here.
City of Yarra Mayor, Jackie Fristacky was in attendance and officially opened the Yarra Bend Driving Range. The range boasts 33 undercover bays alongside 10 outdoor bays and with an outdoor grassed area opening soon, it is the ideal practice facility for golfers of all abilities.

All attendees received automatic entry for the lucky door prize. The package consists of Tickets to the 2014 Oates Vic Open at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links in February along with accommodation at RACV Torquay Resort for two people generously donated by RACV. The door prize was won by Tim Price, congratulations Tim!
