Click here to find out what other clubs are doing to help. Golfers, Golf Clubs and Golf Industry groups throughout Australia have responded strongly to the tragedy of the Victorian bushfires and are conducting a coordinated fundraising effort. Golf clubs and courses throughout Australia are asked to dedicate their club competitions for one week during February or March to a special fundraising appeal for bushfire relief. It is requested that clubs forgo their normal club competition fees on competition days during their selected week and instead ask their golfers to donate $5 to the appeal. To ensure that contributions made to the Australian Golf Industry effort are identified and acknowledged, it is requested that all donations be forwarded to Golf Australia. Donations will be distributed between two relief funds as follows: The Red Cross General Bushfire Appeal to assist affected families and communities – see attached authorisation from Red Cross. The Victorian Golf Bushfires Relief/Hardship Appeal (established jointly by the Victorian Golf Association and Women’s Golf Victoria) to assist affected golf clubs see attached. Excess funds from this will be redistribiuted to It is understood that some golf clubs are planning to conduct events or appeals and make donations to specific local causes. These are applauded. Golf Australia will be pleased to help to promote these initiatives and acknowledge them via the Golf Australia and State Association websites. Please email details to bushfirerelief@golfaustralia.org.au. This special fundraising has the full support of State Golf Associations, the PGA of Australia, ALPG, and Golf Management Australia.
