Golfers make a difference

Over 200 golfers participated in the inaugural Geoff Ogilvy Golf Challenge played at the magnificent Royal Melbourne Golf Club on Monday 16 December. The event was created by the Tee Up for Kids Foundation with Geoff Ogilvy’s patronage to raise funds to help the most disadvantaged kids in Victoria.  The support received by Victorian golf clubs and their members as well as a large number of sponsors contributed to the day’s success.

Players enjoyed the Royal Melbourne West Course, at the venue that recently hosted both the Australian Masters and World Cup. Even the unpredictable Melbourne weather cooperated to add to the players’ enjoyment, with sunshine and a southerly breeze prevailing across the day.

The scoring in the four-ball best ball stableford competition was commendable given the challenges posed by the revered Royal Melbourne green complexes. To conclude a memorable day, trophies were presented by Geoff Ogilvy himself following the afternoon field.

Golf Victoria and the Tee up for Kids Foundation records its sincere thanks to Royal Melbourne Golf Club for supporting a special day in Victorian golf.
