The Murray Bridge High School boys golf team has been named the best sporting team for a rural event in South Australia. In front of 195 guests and athletes, local golfers Hayden Marcus, Tyson Pratt and Michael Young were announced as overall team achievers in the rural category of the 2011 Messenger Youth Sports Awards held recently at the Adelaide Festival Centre. The team took out the award above four other finalists. The young golfers were recognised for their achievement in representing their school, town and state in the national secondary schools golf event, held last November in Sydney. They were presented with a trophy and certificate for their high school and a $1000 shared Rebel Sport voucher. Certificates and presentations were made by players from the Adelaide 36ers and Adelaide United, coach Rini Coolen and paralympian Tim Maloney. SOURCE: Murray Valley Standard
