Gomez breaks par at Riverside

Gusty conditions greeted the 40 players that took to Riverside Golf Course for today’s Rookie Series event. Although the sun was out in force, the wind made the temperature feel much cooler and played havoc on the competitors scores.

One person that belied the windy weather was Harrison Gomez who effortlessly signed for an incredible one under par 33 for a barnstorming victory in the under 12 boys. Cooper Ford was too strong in the nett section with a round of 28.     

In the under 12 girls it was Grace Mak that secured a place in the Rookie Series final after winning with a score of 44 while Zara Shinn-Mahony made it back to back titles in the handicap sector with 27.

Sophie Mann notched up yet another gross victory in the under 9 girls category following her round of 44 while her playing partner Eisha Sohail carded todays lowest handicap score of 24. Adam Mao claimed the under 9 boys trophy with Alessandro Tarantelli and Caiden Xing tied with 28 nett.

In the under 16 categories, Aaron Tran notched out Brodie Richardson for top spot in the gross sector with 41, while Roi Lawrence Fortinez walked away with the nett prize. Angelique Georgiou was there to accept her trophy at presentations, winning the under 16 girls class.
