Golf Australia congratulates former National Squad member Jason Day on his maiden USPGA Tour win in Texas this week. Day won the HP Byron Nelson Championship by 2 strokes on a gripping final day which saw him hit his second shot on the 18th into the water but make a fighting bogey to stave off his nearest competitors. Day was a member of the National Squad in 2005/06 before turning Professional. He claimed his first Professional victory in 2007 on the Nationwide Tour which saw him become the 2nd youngest winner of a Professional event in the US. This win sees Day move into 23rd on the FedEx Cup standings, joining former fellow National Squad members Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy in the top 25.
