Green Acres supports beyondblue

The ladies of Green Acres Golf Club recently held their annual Charity Day with the recipient this year being beyondblue.

Green Acres has a large number of lady members and 140 of them turned out to support the cause. Many took on the blue theme and dressed accordingly, hitting specially sourced blue golf balls while participating in a number of team and novelty events throughout the day.

Following the golf, the ladies dug deep, purchasing donated local produce and entering raffles for prizes generously donated by members, local traders and club suppliers.

The most successful day raised the sum of $8,000 to assist in helping beyondblue raise awareness of anxiety and depression in the community.

The cheque was presented to the Hon Jeff Kennett, Chairman of beyondblue by Lady President Di Chapman and Captain Julie Pilling. Mr Kennett said, ”Beyondblue is indebted for the support of the women golfers at Green Acres Golf Club. Through the Ladies Charity Day they raised and donated a magnificent $8,000 to beyondblue.

"The monies will be well spent in our drive to assist people with depressive illness, including post natal depression among new mothers.”

Green Acres Golf Club has a tradition of supporting many charities and donates approximately $30,000 each year.
