Green pushing for Dubai

ran Richard Green is fighting hard for a place in the Dubai World Championship on the European Tour.

Green, 43, has jumped to 74th on the Road to Dubai standings after finishing 18th in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews over the weekend.

The Victorian needs to climb into the top 60 to take a place in the field for the season-ending European Tour event in November, worth $8 million.

A veteran of 19 years in Europe, he has not played the tour championship since 2010.

Meanwhile on the Asian Tour former Australian amateur champion Cameron Smith continued his consistent  season by finishing tied-sixth in the Taiwan Masters behind England’s Steve Lewton.

Smith, 21, has won more than $115,000 in prizemoney in six tournaments this year, and is sitting in an impressive 11th on the Asian Tour order of merit.

The Queenslander, who won the Australian amateur title in 2013 before turning professional, is a member of Golf Australia’s rookie squad.
