Green’s chance to secure LPGA card

Hannah Green's quest for a full LPGA Tour card for 2018 hits full tilt as she takes on the Sioux Falls Greatlife Challenge at Sioux Falls in North Dakota this weekend.

The Western Australian is well-placed to make the top 10 money-earners on the secondary Symetra Tour, placed fifth overall with six tournaments including the Tour Championship remaining.

The 10th-placed player on the money list last year earned $67,577.

Green, in her first year as a touring professional, has collected $57,904 from eight top-10 finishes including her breakthrough win in the Sara Bay Classic at Sarasota, Florida in March.

Hence, she is just one or two good weeks away from securing her card.

“I’ve definitely put myself in good position for the next six events to hopefully secure my LGPA card,” Green told the Inside The Ropes podcast recently during a break at home in Pert.

“I have all my goals but I think I’ve achieved them a bit quicker than I thought so that’s always a bonus!.”

Meanwhile five Australians are in position to play in the LPGA Tour's season-ending CME Globe Championship later this year as that tour begins its wind to the finish line at the Cambia Portland Classic in Portland, Oregon.

Minjee Lee (not playing this week), is 18th on the points ranking, Katherine Kirk 38th, Sarah Jane Smith 45th, Su Oh 58th and Karrie Webb 65th. The top 72 go through to the Tour Championship in Florida in November with its $US1 million bonus prize.

There are 10 tournaments remaining, including a major in Switzerland and an Asian swing.

South Korea's So Yeon Ryu, the world No. 1, leads the rankings.
