Groom comes second in Cambodia

Australian Adam Groom has finished in second place in the Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open at the Phokeethra Country Club in Siem Reap. Holding a one stroke lead going into the final round, Groom could only manage a one-under par 71 and finished three shots adrift of American Bryan Saltus. Groom didn&apost play as well as he had in previous rounds, with two birdies on the final two holes rescuing his round. Saltus on the other hand, started his round with three straight birdies to immediately take control of the tournament. From there he never looked back, eventually firing a five-under par round of 67 to finish at 17-under for the tournament. Despite finishing in second place, Groom was still delighted with his tournament, “It&aposs been a good week for me. I&aposve shot four rounds under par which was something I couldn&apost do all year until this week,” he said. “It was a tough day out there and catching Bryan was going to be difficult with the form he was in today. But all credit to Bryan for his win this week.” Thai duo Thaworn Wiratchant and Prom Meesawat both finished in equal third on 11-under overall. Australian Mitch Brown had a solid tournament, finishing in a tie for 18th place, his second round of 77 costing him a chance at the title after he was in second place after round one. Jason King finished in 24th place at three-under, while Adam Le Vesconte and Richard Moir both finished a further stroke back in a tie for 29th.
