Haglund aces spectacular Genesis prize

Aces are nothing new to Jenny Haglund; driving away in a stunning new Genesis is something completely different.

Literally shaking with excitement after her third-round 73 at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, the 24-year-old Swede was battling to comprehend what soon will sit in her driveway.

“That’s so exciting. I’ve never had anything like this at all,” Haglund beamed.

“I’ve made a couple of holes-in-one before, but this is obviously the biggest and most important for me, it’s fantastic.”

Haglund’s fourth career ace landed her the spectacular sedan in her first Australian Open appearance.

“The others have all been in tournament play, but I’ve never got anything for them, let alone a Genesis. Three lots of nothing and now an awesome car. I can’t believe it.”

Haglund didn’t see the ball drop.

“I hit a seven iron, it was 144m. I just aimed right at the pin and it was just how I wanted to hit it. I started a little bit right and then drawing a bit left against the wind which held it up a little and then it landed and rolled and … then the crowd was just cheering and standing up. It was a great experience.

“I just looked at my caddie and just stood there with my mouth open. I don’t think we realised for a few seconds what we’d really done.”

Still shaking, Haglund said the car “looked awesome”.

“This is fun. I can’t believe it. I can’t wait to drive it!”
