Hallinan and Lautee win Vic Junior Sandgreens

The Victorian Girls and Boys Junior Sandgreens titles have been won by Grace Hallinan and Andre Lautee at Bannockburn Golf Club.
The event was played for the first time after a 1 year hiatus (Elmore Golf Club hosted the event since inception in 2001).
Members from Bannockburn Golf Club welcomed the competitiors who were all very new to the concept of playing Sandgreens.
Vice Captain Henk Kersten explained the rules and process around the Sandgreens prior to hit off for those who hadn’t played on Sandgreens before.

Conditions during the first round on Saturday afternoon were cold however this wouldn’t have affected the golf. Most competitors struggled on the front nine holes trying to work out the sandgreens. On the back nine it was all about working out the approcah shots which showed with players having better scores on the way in. Andre Lautee had the best  boys score of the day with a 79 and Grace Hallinan had the best girls score with an 80.

During the second round on Sunday morning play moved a lot quicker now that the players had more confidence playing sandgreens.
Grace Hallinan from Sanctuary Lakes shot an 81 to give her a total of 161 and the Girls Sandgreens title. In the Boys section Andre Lautee from Rosanna Golf Club shot an impressive 5 over par 74 to win by 7 strokes from Jack Deftereos-Brennan.

Raphaella Mugano from Sandhurst Golf Club won the Girls Nett section and Harry Smith form Lara Golf Club won the Boys Nett Section.
