The Legends of international golf will descend on Perth later this year when the Handa Australian Senior Open comes to Western Australia for the first time, joining sister event the Handa Australia Cup in October. After two years at Concord Golf Club in Sydney, the prestigious Handa Australian Senior Open will be played at Royal Perth Golf Club in South Perth from 23-25 October 2009. A field of senior men will battle it out over 54 holes for Australia&aposs biggest Senior purse of $300,000. The event will feature a stellar line-up of golfing legends, including Wayne Grady, Peter Senior, Peter Fowler, Rodger Davis, Terry Gale, Michael Clayton, Michael Harwood, Brian Jones and Ossie Moore. Sponsor and founder, Japanese businessman and philanthropist Haruhisa Handa, said he was thrilled to have both events played back-to-back in Perth, in addition to the Handa Junior Masters tournament held at The Vines earlier this May. It was a perfect fit to bring the Senior Open event to Perth, giving golf fans access to the two highest profile senior events on the Australian golfing calendar, Dr Handa said.
