Golf NSW High Performance squad member Harrison Endycott has held his nerve to shoot a respectable 3-over par 75 to be sitting in a tie for second place after round two of the Australian Master of the Amateurs at Royal Melbourne Golf Club today.
A strong southerly breeze put paid to the low scores of yesterday as the venerable West Course bared its teeth today, with only four players in the field managing to break par.
Hendycott was extremely happy with his 3-over par score today in extremely testing conditions.
“I’m pretty happy with 75 today, three over felt like shooting under par,” Says Hendycott. “It was just brutal out there.”
Hendycott got off to a bright start today, eagling the Par 5 second, however the course took its toll as he completed his outward nine, with three bogeys and a double bogey bringing him back to the field. Three bogeys were nullified by three birdies on the back nine to top off a solid day for him.
The Avondale member is pretty optimistic about his chances over the final two rounds.
“Just to stay in the present, thats all I want,” he said.
American Ben Schlottman leads the tournament with matching 1-under par rounds of 71 for a 2-under par total after 36 holes.
