Port Augusta is known as the 'Crossroads of Australia'. It is where the major inland highways from Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria converge.

Situated on the quiet waterways at the head of the Spencer Gulf, at the foothills of the imposing Flinders Ranges, it is the 'back door' to the great Australian outback.

This intriguing environment, where desert meets the sea, is a delight to explore.

28 Member Golf Clubs are part of Golf SA’s Northern District.

Greens courses include Port Augusta, Roxby Downs and Broken Hill (NSW) while the other Clubs in the District are sand greens courses.

Throughout Australia, there are around 400 courses that have greens comprised of oiled sand or some other similar material, usually due to the prohibitive cost of maintaining grass greens by small clubs in rural areas.

The main golf season for the Sand Greens Golf Clubs is SA is generally from April – Sep.

Head to the Northern District, bring your clubs and play one of these unique courses. There’s something to suit everyone.
