Heard and Ash fifth at Women’s Australian Foursomes

South Australian representative players Ebony Heard and Emma Ash have finished a credible fifth at the Australian Women’s Foursomes Championship at Riversdale Golf Club in Melbourne. The Kooyonga pairing carded rounds of 78 and 74 for a two round total of 152 in excellent conditions across the Riversdale layout. For the third time in four years, honours were shared at the tournament with the New Zealand pairing of Cecilia Cho and Lydia Ko shared the honours with Koreans Su Hyun-Oh and Lee Park as both teams carded rounds of 68 and 71 (139). Cho and Ko hold the Number 2 and Number 3 spots on the Women’s World Amateur Rankings and the pair are familiar with Australia Ko was the leading amateur at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open and Cho is the current Australian Women’s Stroke Play champion. With a &aposfancy dress&apos theme having been adopted by players at the Australian Foursomes in recent years, the South Australian pairing of Heard and Ash looked resplendent in matching sets of pink pajamas throughout their two rounds. Other notable costumes on the day included the Queensland pairing of Corinne Swan and Ali Orchard dressed as fairies, Victorian players Jo Charlton and Rachel Korevaar dressed as Smurfs and most amusingly Carly Beck and Chantal Hodson (NSW) attired as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Following Friday&aposs national Foursomes the players moved onto the 72-hole Women&aposs Riversdale Cup national ranking event which concludes Wednesday 2 March.
