Heath leads Vic Amp Open

Gardner's Run member Cameron Heath finds himself one shot clear of the field after round one of the 2018 Victorian Amputee Open at Ballarat Golf Club.

Heath managed a +14 over par 86 to lead the field in a tough day on the challenging Ballarat G.C layout.

Heath, an arm amputee who plays without assistance of a prosthetic limb is playing in his first amputee golf tournament.

"Hitting off in the afternoon made things difficult with the wind becoming squally for most of the round.” Heath said.

"It was a challenge keeping the doubles off the card, apart from three bad holes, I played well today in the conditions." Heath added.

NSW Kathleen Tanner leads the women and is tied second in the nett event, three shots behind Andrew Watson who was the only player to break par.

The Victorian Amputee Open is the first Golf Australia / European Disabled Golf Association ranking event for 2018.
