Golf Australia is the national governing body for golf in Australia with a goal to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grassroots golfers through to the elite levels, spectators, volunteers and associated industry bodies.
The High Performance Program is focussed on producing athletes who are capable of winning major championships, Olympic medals and top-100 world ranking positions. The State High Performance Programs collectively form the Golf Australia high performance program pathway and are responsible for overseeing each athlete’s daily training environment and long-term development processes.
Reporting to the High Performance Manager, the Female National Pathway Manager will be responsible for implementing strategies to ensure the sustained success of female athletes at the elite level. This newly created role will work closely with each State High Performance Manager, Coaches and service teams in guiding and mentoring Australia’s female athletes through the appropriate development pathways and platforms. Although the primary focus will be on female athletes, this role will work across all high performance programs.
The role will require a dynamic leader and communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with athletes of all ages, parents, coaches and administrators within Golf Australia, the State Golf Associations, Australian and State Institutes and Academies (SIS-SAS), local clubs and schools to build a cohesive and effective female athlete development program within each state, and ensure a seamless transition from club/school and local activities into state and national programs, providing athletes with the necessary tools and resources to reach their potential.
To be successful in this key role, you will need demonstrated experience in the management and operations of high performance sport, with proven success in the planning, implementation and ongoing development of talent identification and/or pathway programs and strategies. You will have a clear understanding of the development pathways available for elite female athletes globally and the leading trends and delivery platforms required to achieve international success.
The role would suit a highly motivated and growth mind-set individual who is keen to learn and has a passion for guiding Australia’s elite female athletes through all development pathways. A background in the sport of golf would be desirable.
