Hend leads again in Europe

Australia's Scott Hend will take the lead into the final round of a European Tour event for the second week in a row after an excellent 64 at the KLM Open.

The Australian began the third round three shots off the summit and when he started the day with a bogey on the second, he was moving away from the leading pack.

He responded with six birdies and an eagle to get to 14-under and open up a one-shot lead over Italy's Nino Bertasio, who had been in front throughout the closing stages.

The Italian had held a two-shot lead as he stood on the 18th tee but a closing birdie from Hend coupled with his own double-bogey meant the 28-year-old will be playing catch up at The Dutch on Sunday.
Hend entered the final round of last week's Omega European Masters with a one-shot lead but lost in a play-off to Alex Noren and will hope to go one better as he searches for a second win of the season.

It has been an excellent 2016 for the 43-year-old who won the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang in March and went on to represent his country at the Olympic Men's Golf Competition.

"The swing felt a little bit off out there today but I managed to hang in there and just stay patient and then I started hitting some really nice shots and that presented me with the opportunity to make some putts," he said. "It was just all about hanging in there today, I wasn't really on top of it but I got the most out of it that I could."
