Jake Higginbottom finished tied for eighth at the Maekyung Open Championship in South Korea, with Ryu Hyun-woo winning the OneAsia tournament on Sunday. Higginbottom carded a final-round of four-under 68 to secure a top-10 finish at the Namseoul Country Club, and be the best-placed Australian. Matthew Griffin was the next best Aussie, carding a one-under 71 round to finish his week four under the card in a tie for 15th position. Stephen Dartnall (tied 20th) also shot a round of 71 to finish his tournament on three under, while Steve Jeffress, Jamie Arnold (both tied 26th) and Terry Pilkadaris (tied 30th) were the other Australians in the top 30. Pilkadaris had shot an opening round of eight-under 64 on Thursday, but couldn&apost keep up the pace as he finished his tournament on one under. Title winner Ryu won just his second professional tournament, slotting a birdie on the par-three 17th while threats Kim Do-hoon and Kim Hyung-sung both bogeyed the same hole. Ryu finished on 14 under, bogeying the final hole with a shot to spare. The Kims were tied for second on13 under, while Lee Kyoung-hoon and Kim Dae-sub were equal fourth on 10 under. Kang Kyung-nam was sixth on nine under, while Lee Tae-hee (seven under) rounded out an all-South Korean top seven.
