High Performance Update


The Players Amateur

The Players Amateur was shortened to 54 holes due to poor weather. Jordan Zunic (Bonnie Doon) had scores of 74,71,71 (-1) to finish T26. Brett Drewitt (Long Reef) completed the tournament with scores 74,71,72 (E) to finish T33. Callan O Reilly (Pennant Hills) finished with scores of 78,72,73. The winner was Hunter Stewart with scores of 64, 68, 70 (-14). The low Australian was Oliver Goss from Western Australia who is currently a student athlete at the University of Tennesee. Brett, Jordan and Callan will now move onto Houston, Texas to compete in the Southern Amateur which will be played at The Club at Carlton Woods, The Woodlands from July 17-20. Women’s Trans National

Cathleen Santoso (The Australian) had a solid tournament to finish T11 with scores of 76, 74,75,74 (+11). Carly Beck (The Australian) didn t play as well as she hoped shooting scores of 83,80,80,80 (+35) to finish T46. Hannah Su from California won the event with scores of 72,70, 72,73 to finish -1. Ashley Ona (Queensland) was the best finishing Australian player with scores of 73,76, 75,74 to finish T10. To view final full field scores [click here]. Japan Amateur

Cameron Davis (Monash Country Club) made it through to the semi finals of the Japan Amateur. Cameron had solid wins in his early rounds winning 5/3, 4/3, 4/3 before being narrowly beaten 2 down in his semi-final match. Cameron had scores of 68,72 to finish tied 12th to qualify for the match play section. Unfortunately Rick Kato (The Australian) missed qualifying for the match-play section with rounds of 71,76. Callaway Junior Worlds

A number of Australian juniors including JNJG s Grant Booth (The Australian) and Jessica Lasky (The Australian) will compete in the Callaway Junior Worlds this week from July 16-19. The 15-17 age division will be played at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. Tiger Woods won the Farmers Insurance Open, a US Tour event, earlier this year at the Torrey Pines South Course. Tiger has also won a US Open at the venue. This is a major event on the international junior calendar, with a number of current and former US tour players winning this event, including Tiger Woods and Australians Jason Day, Matt Giles and Andrew Buckle.
