Historians

A networking group for golf club historians to meet, exchange ideas and become aware of what others are doing to collect, record and display their history and memorabilia.

The meetings target Golf Club historians but anyone interested in golf history is welcome to attend. Membership of the Golf Society is NOT a pre-requisite and there is no cost involved. Meetings generally begin at approximately 12 noon after a light luncheon from 11:30 am.

Regular features include a guest speaker, updates from clubs regarding their history collecting activities and a 'show and tell' segment.

Meetings are held in Melbourne, with occasional visits outside the metropolitan area, such as meetings hosted by Warragul, Barwon Heads, Ballarat and Bendigo Golf Clubs.

The first meeting was held in May 2004 at Kew Golf Club and interest was such that meetings have been held regularly since then. Ian Rennick, Convenor and former GSA Chairman, retired at the end of 2012 and the Society acknowledges his foresight in establishing this group.
