Hole 3 – Royal Sydney Golf Club – Par 3

The first short hole plays downhill to a long narrow green flanked by bunkers and players can hit anything from a four iron to a nine depending on the wind and whether the pin is in the front or back of the green.

There is nothing too difficult about the green and the only sin is to miss it on the same side as the pin because difficult bunker shots are the penalty. There is a good mix of short holes at Royal Sydney with the long 17th being balanced by the short downhill 6th hole.

The 3rd and 14th holes fall somewhere in-between the two extremes and demand similarly accurate, well-flighted iron shots.
