Western Australia’s Hayden Hopewell has moved into the lead in the 2019 Men’s Tasmanian Open Golf Championship at Ulverstone.
The 17-year-old Royal Fremantle member carded a one-under-par 71 during today’s third round to lead the field at four-under.
Overnight leader, Adam Thorp from the Federal Golf Club in the Australian Capital Territory, dropped to equal third alongside Launceston‘s Mitch Van Noord.
Thorp carded a five-over 77 while Van Noord managed a 74 to finish the day on even-par for the tournament.
The pair sits two strokes behind second placed Aiden Didone from the Metropolitan Golf Club in Victoria.
Didone moved up the leader board with a well-played two-under-par round of 70 and sits well within striking distance with one round to go.

Queensland’s Rebecca Kay has shot to the lead in the 2019 Women’s Tasmanian Open Golf Championship at Ulverstone Golf Club.
The 20-year-old Coolangatta and Tweed Heads golfer returned a three-under-par 70 in today’s third round to lead the field at four-under.
Overnight leader, Kathryn Norris from Mandurah Country Club in Western Australia is second, three strokes adrift of Kay on one-under-par after carding a 76.
Sanctuary Cove Golf Club’s Isabelle Taylor is a further two strokes back in third place on one-over-par after also returning a 76.
Local member Sarah Johnstone is the leading Tasmanian in a tie for eighth place on nine-over-par.
Tasmania Golf Club junior, Mackenzie Wilson, dazzled spectators with a fine one-under-par round of 72 today, to move up two places to eleventh.

New South Wales’ David Gleeson has won the 2019 Men’s Tasmanian Senior Masters at the Ulverstone Golf Club.
The 59-year-old Dubbo Golf Club member carded rounds of 76, 84 and 78 for a 54-hole total of 238.
Gleeson finished three shot clear of fellow New South Welshman, Peter Zotti, who returned rounds of 80, 76 and 85 for his total of 241.
Wyong Golf Club’s David McClelland round out the top three with scores of 80, 85 and 79, a total of 244.
Royal Hobart Golf Club’s Richard Denholm was the leading Tasmanian in fourth place with 81, 80 and 86.

Prospect Vale Golf Club’s Tammy Hall has led the field from start to finish to win the 2019 Women’s Tasmanian Senior Masters title at Ulverstone.
Hall comfortably accounted for her nearest rival and sister, Deidre Panton, by thirteen strokes returning 81, 83 and 82 across the three day event.
Panton who also plays out of Prospect Vale Golf Club carded 85, 86 and 88 for her 54-hole total of 259.
Port Sorell Golf Club’s Sharon Crowden placed third behind Panton with 86, 90 and 92.
