Huge weekend for Vics: Murray wins in China & Lennon in Tassie

It was a big weekend for Victorian Golf with not only Royal Melbourne Golf Club hosting the winning Australian team of Adam Scott and Jason Day, who also won the individual component, but there were also some tremendous results for a number of young up and coming stars.

Zach Murray won the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship with rounds of 66-70-72-72. Fellow Victorian Frazer Droop also performed well, finishing 8th. Aaron Baddeley International Website

In Tasmania, Grace Lennon won the Tasmanian Amateur and Tasmanian Medal. Read more here. Also playing in Tassie was James Bannan who lost in a playoff for the Men’s Tasmanian Medal.

In New South Wales at the Gloria Jean’s Coffees NSW Open, Jack Wilson finished in a tie for second at -15, four shots behind winner Aron Price. Meanwhile, Ben Eccles shot up the leaderboard at the NSW Open with a final round 62 to finish in a tie for 16th at -10. Ben’s round included making the turn in just 29 strokes, a sensational effort from the young amateur. Another Vic amateur competing in the field was Tom Power-Horan who ended up -4 and T40.
